Food Rescue and Delivery Program

Gift on wheels Is a project of the Gift of Living Water Ministries which is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to be the voice hands and feet of the hurting broken and hungry.

The goal for the project to bridge the gap of food scarcity that effects the unreached segment in our community and to solve the problem of food waste in our community, as well as making available other resources through a network system. Gift on the wheels project facilitates the rescue and redistribution of healthy foods and other resources ( transportation to doctors offices, clothes & shoes, counseling, and guidance) to individuals who are without means of transportation or else the ability to make it to local said resources.

In partnering with the community we are able to reach the most neglected and forgotten groups of people; including the homeless disabled and the elderly to provide a much-needed service. Each case is assessed on an individual basis to determine the most urgent and make the best use of our resources.

Our Partners include local churches, restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses and establishments such as local schools who ends up with excess food at the end of each day.

Liabilities and Laws concerning

Grocery stores are protected from lawsuits by the Good Samaritan Food Act, which was passed in 1996. This act Protects businesses from liability when they donate to a non-profit organization and protects them from civil and criminal liability should the product donated later cause harm to the recipient. Furthermore a University of Arkansas study has shown that not a single lawsuit has ever been made against a grocery store that has donated food to a food rescue program. The law is on the side of the grocery stores to donate.
